Set up zeuz with Azure

To use Azure with zeuz, you must create an Azure project and credentials that allow zeuz to access the Azure API.

See the Server hosting page for information on all hosting options zeuz offers.

Before you begin

Before you begin to set up your Azure user for zeuz, ensure that you have:

  • An Azure account with administrator access to the portal.
  • Cloud servers configured in Azure.

Create an Azure project and credentials

First, you must set up an Azure project and get the relevant credentials.

Get an Application ID and Directory ID

To get your Azure credentials:

  1. Log into the Microsoft Azure portal.
  2. Follow the Azure documentation to register an application. Ensure that you select the following options:
    • Name: zeuz-cloud
    • Who can use this application or access this API?: Accounts in this organizational directory only (Microsoft only - Single tenant)
    • Redirect URI: leave blank
  3. In the side menu, click Overview.
  4. Make a note of the displayed Application (client) ID and Directory (tenant) ID.

Get a client secret

To get a client secret in Azure:

  1. Log into the Microsoft Azure portal.
  2. Follow the Azure documentation to create a new application secret. Ensure that you select the following options:
    • Description: zeuz-cloud
    • Expires: never
  3. Make a note of the displayed client secret. Note that you cannot retrieve this value later.

Get a Subscription ID and set up roles

To get a Subscription ID and set up roles in Azure:

  1. Log into the Microsoft Azure portal.
  2. In the Azure portal, click Subscriptions.
  3. Select the subscription you use in conjunction with zeuz.
  4. Make a note of the displayed Subscription ID.
  5. Follow the Azure documentation to assign a user as an administrator of a subscription. However, for the Role, do not select Owner. Instead, select the following options:
    • Role: Contributor
    • Select: zeuz-cloud
  6. Use the same procedure to create another role with the following options:
    • Role: User Access Administrator
    • Select: zeuz-cloud

Configure zeuz to use Azure

To configure zeuz to use your Azure cloud servers:

  1. In the zeuz control panel, click your login name (or the three dots, if they appear instead) at the top right to open the drop-down menu, then click Cloud Connections.
  2. Enable Microsoft Azure and enter the Subscription ID, Application (Client) ID, Directory (tenant) ID and Client Secret of your Azure zeuz user.
  3. Click Save.

zeuz is now configured to access your Azure cloud servers.

Check your current limits

For information on how to check your current limits, see the Azure document check resource usage against limits. We recommend you check the following resources for your target region (for example East US, Brazil South, East Asia, North EU, Australia East or other regions):

  • Service Virtual network: at least 1 free for zeuz
  • Virtual Machine: 1000, or the number of virtual machines you have requested in zeuz control panel if that is greater
  • Public IP Addresses: 200, or the number of virtual machines you have requested in zeuz control panel if that is greater

Note: Microsoft might take up to four business days to update your quota after you change it.
