Set up zeuz with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

To use Google Cloud Platform (GCP) with zeuz, you must create and configure a GCP project that allows zeuz to access the GCP API.

See the Server hosting page for information on all hosting options zeuz offers.

Before you begin

Before you begin to set up your GCP project for zeuz, ensure that you have:

  • A GCP account with administrator access to the console.
  • Cloud servers configured in GCP.

Generate GCP credentials for zeuz

You first need to set up a GCP project, enable the relevant APIs and set up a service account and appropriate roles.

Create a project

To create a GCP account:

  1. Sign in to the GCP console.
  2. Follow the Google Cloud documentation to create a project. Ensure that you select the following option:
    • Project name: zeuz-cloud

Enable the Compute Engine API

To enable the Compute Engine API:

  1. Follow the Google Cloud documentation to enable APIs (Console tab).

  2. In the API Library, use the filter to select the Compute category.

  3. Enable the Compute Engine API.

This might take a few minutes.

  4. Repeat this process, but in the API Library, use the filter to select the Networking category.

  5. Enable the Compute Engine API.

This might take a few minutes.

Create a service account and assign roles

To create a service account and assign roles:

  1. Follow the Google Cloud documentation to create a service account. Ensure that you select the following options:
    • Service account name: zeuz-cloud
    • Service account id: zeuz-cloud
    • Click Create to set access controls.
    • In the Role dropdown, select Compute Admin.
    • After you select the above options, do not click Done yet. Instead, follow the rest of this procedure to download a JSON file, which you will need to provide zeuz with the GCP account credentials.
  2. Create a key and save the JSON file, which you will use in the next procedure to connect zeuz with your Google Cloud account.

Configure zeuz to use Google Cloud

To configure zeuz to use your GCP cloud servers:

  1. In the zeuz control panel, click your login name (or the three dots, if they appear instead) at the top right to open the drop-down menu, then click Cloud Connections.
  2. Enable Google Cloud.
  3. Click Upload credentials file.
  4. Select the JSON file you downloaded from the GCP console.
  5. Click Save.

zeuz is now configured to access your GCP cloud servers.

Check your Google Cloud quota

When you set up your GCP configuration, ensure that you have sufficient storage and CPUs to cover the maximum number of instances zeuz can provision for your allocations.

To check your Google Cloud quota:

  1. Go to the Cloud Console quotas page in the GCP Console. For more information, see Viewing all project quotas in the Google documentation.
  2. Select your zeuz project.
  3. Use the filters to find the following quotas:
    • C2 CPUs > ALL QUOTAS. Ensure you have a minimum 500 CPUs for each of the following regions:
      • asia-northeast1
      • europe-west3
      • australia-southeast1
      • us-west2
      • us-east1
      • us-central1
    • Persistent Disk Standard (GB) > ALL QUOTAS. Ensure you have at least 50TB allocated for the following region:
      • europe-west3
    • In-use IP addresses > ALL QUOTAS. Ensure you have a minimum 500 addresses for the following region:
      • europe-west3

Note: Google might take up to four business days to update your quota after you change it.
